HorseCentered Ground Lessons
Age 9-Adult

HorseCentered Ground Lessons is a unique, horsemanship class designed to deepen the connection between horse and handler. Based on the Horse Sense Learning Levels curriculum, this non-riding program helps students age 9 and up develop skills in observation, communication, and empathy—core foundations of a true horse partnership. Through groundwork, liberty work, and relationship-building activities, students learn how to “listen” to horses and respond in ways that build trust, confidence, and calmness on both sides of the lead rope.
This class is a perfect fit for students who are unable or prefer not to ride, but still want a meaningful relationship with horses. It’s also an excellent complement to traditional riding lessons, offering deeper insight into equine behavior and body language that helps riders become more sensitive, responsive partners in the saddle. Whether taken on its own or alongside mounted instruction, HorseCentered empowers students to connect with horses in a thoughtful, respectful way that supports lifelong horsemanship.
Students progress through the HorseCentered curriculum at their own pace and may earn colorful ribbons for each Level they complete. These ribbons recognize their growing knowledge and commitment to horsemanship and celebrate their achievements both in and out of the arena.
